Nigel Swift is best known amongst his collectors as a landscape and still life artist, but he paints, and draws people all the time for his pleasure: fast, coloured pencil sketches, charcoal life-studies, and beautiful oil pastel compositions.

There are humorous works and funny little sketches, as well as beautifully worked colour compositions and also simple, elegant minimal drawings which capture a pose; a mood and the character of the model perfectly. There are people in conversation, lost in thoughts, posing, caught unaware, some become one with their landscapes, some are suspended in unspecified places and times. Some are figures beautiful rendered with all their curves and personal beauty, others are reduced to just a few, almost abstracted lines.

Nigel has been drawing people all of his life - it is a subject which fascinates him and provides endless challenges which he loves to explore and we love to see.

We love these works and thought it was time to share them with his fans at the Studio.

Nigel will be joining us in the Studio to talk about these works - do contact us if you are interested in joining us for this. Otherwise you are welcome to visit the Studio at the weekend without appointment to view the collection in person.
