Andrew Marr was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1959. He is best known as a television presenter and as a writer; but his greatest passion is for painting.
His first solo show, Strokes of Colour, was at Corke Gallery in Liverpool, June – July 2017. In the Autumn of 2017 Andrew exhibited alongside Adrian Hemmings at the Bermondsey Art Project in London, and also had a solo show at Trinity Hall in Cambridge. In July 2018, a new collection of paintings was exhibited in his second solo exhibition, Angels & Open Windows, at the Corke Gallery during the 2018 Liverpool Biennial. In May 2019, Andrew exhibited a suite of nine paintings with Richard Demarco at the Scuola Grande di San Marco during the Venice Biennale. Later that summer, a larger collection of works entitled Nineteen Paintings and Nine Drawings about Brexit, Scotland and Healing was exhibited during the Edinburgh Festival in the Demarco Wing of Robert McDowell’s Summerhall Arts Centre. Andrew’s first solo show at Eames Fine Art, Town and Country took place in Summer 2021.
Andrew is an honorary member of the Royal Society of British Artists.
