Frank Shepard Fairey is a contemporary artist and activist. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating in 1992.
His early work was closely linked with street art, including the ‘Andre the Giant Has a Posse’ (Obey Giant) sticker campaign. He is the founder of a number of design studios and the OBEY clothing line and has collaborated with numerous brands, musicians and political activists. His most well known work is the design for Barack Obama’s ‘Hope’ poster for the 2008 U.S. presidential election.
His work can be found in collections across the world, including at the V&A in London, the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C., The Smithsonian, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Fairey lives and works in Los Angeles.
