Lucy Bainbridge was born in Warwickshire in 1975. After graduating with a degree in Art and Visual Culture from Bristol she went on to complete a postgraduate degree in printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts in 2003.
Her cityscape series appears both hand drawn and photographic, contemporary and old. She attempts to briefly pause a city in constant reinvention and renovation. Using the limited light and the relative calm of the capital shortly before dawn or at dusk, she invites the viewer to reflect on a moment in time.
Recently Lucy was awarded an artist's residency at Eton College. There she produced a beautiful series of work that captures a light that has cast the same shadows for hundreds of years. Corridors, classrooms, dormitories and playing fields soaked in history and haunted by the ghosts of power and privilege.
Lucy's work combines photography, multi-layered screen-print, graphite dust and drawing and is regularly exhibited throughout the UK including at the Royal Academy of Arts at the Summer Exhibition and the London Original Print Fair.
