In the gallery (showcased alongside our auction after-sale) is a fantastic collection of iconic original prints by British Pop artist Eduardo Paolozzi.
We also have an extremely rare work which is very exciting to see: it's a signed, oil painted melamine panel (with screenprinted outline) made as a model sketch for the artist's designs for Tottenham Court Road underground station decoration, which he was commissioned to design in the 1980s by London Transport. This is one of Paolozzi's most famous works; he loved the brief:
"I thought always of the people who use the Tube. What happens when people pass quickly through the station on the train? Will people relate to the metaphors I sought in connection with the life above ground - cameras, music shops, saxophones, electronics?… My 'alphabet' of images for Tottenham Court Road reflects my interpretation of the past, present and future of the area."
This very personal and beautiful work is also such an important part of London's history. We're very lucky to have it for sale at our studio and to be able to offer it at just £27,500. We think it's an extremely fair price for such an important work - it is a genuine once-in-a-lifetime piece. However, we also have an excellent range of beautiful works, some signed and some unsigned, all framed and in excellent condition, between £450 and £1,500.
