The huge urban sprawl that is London is actually made up of many villages, each with its own distinct character, and all of it is there to be discovered, with its magnificent architecture and hidden corners, through which the great tidal River Thames flows.Having made this city the focus of my work for many years, it occurred to me that, with such a fast-changing subject matter, it could be useful to construct a framework such as an alphabet with which to explore unfamiliar corners of London. It turns out that while some letters are easy to fill, some are very much harder! The fortunate side effect of this has encouraged me to tackle subjects that I wouldn’t necessarily have chosen, and the challenge has proved to be very invigorating.I hope you enjoy the exhibition and find the choices I’ve made interesting!
